The Airtable app for Slack puts your bases where your team already communicates. Ask questions, take action on your data, and stay in sync, all without leaving Slack.

Explore your data with Airtable's AI assistant. @mention Airtable in any Slack channel to ask questions about your bases, summarize records, look up information, and create or update entries. The AI assistant matches each user's existing Airtable permissions, so everyone only sees and acts on data they already have access to.

Stay in sync with automatic notifications. Get Slack messages when records change in your bases with a link to jump straight to the update. Build custom notification rules with Airtable automations to send alerts to the right channels for status changes, new submissions, approvals, and more.

Airtable links pasted into Slack also show a rich preview of the record, so your team can see the data without opening another tab.

How to get started

1. Install the Airtable app in Slack: A Slack workspace admin adds the Airtable app from the Slack App Directory.

2. Connect your Airtable account: @mention the Airtable bot in any channel or open its Home tab, then follow the prompts to link your account.

3. Choose a base: In the Airtable app's Home tab in Slack, select the base you want the assistant to access.

4. Start asking questions: @mention Airtable in any channel or open the assistant panel and ask a question about your data.

5. Set up notifications: Use Airtable Automations to send updates to Slack channels when records change in your bases.

Note: If your workspace already has the Airtable app installed for Slack notifications or automations, a workspace admin will need to reinstall it to enable the AI assistant. This takes less than a minute, and your existing automations and notifications won't be affected.
