Sync Airtable with engineering data from Jira

Setup Jira integration

What is Jira?

Jira is a work management tool used by engineering teams to track software development.

What can you do with Airtable ProductCentral + Jira?

Airtable ProductCentral provides a holistic view into your entire product development process. Engineering work tracking from Jira is one of the critical data sets that product teams can sync into ProductCentral, along with support tickets, CRM data, sales call recording, and more.

By aligning product strategy and customer insights in ProductCentral to engineering tickets in Jira, product teams create a single view that aligns strategy to execution.

Here's what it looks like to go from your roadmap in Airtable ProductCentral into specific engineering tickets in Jira:

How does integration work between Airtable ProductCentral + Jira?

ProductCentral reads data from Jira every 5 minutes. As outlined in Airtable’s documentation, the Jira Sync configuration will need to specify a Jira site and filter. Fields can be selected from the set of Jira-provided fields. Custom fields that are based on Jira's built-in field types are also supported.

ProductCentral can read issue types that resemble tasks (single issues) and epics (groups of issues). You can also customize what the concepts of “tasks” and “epics” are called in ProductCentral.

In addition to Airtable Sync, ProductCentral also has a two-way integration with JIRA:

  • From a form in ProductCentral, new Jira issues can be created and automatically written into a Jira project

  • To edit tickets, ProductCentral provides a button on each issue summary for one-click access to edit directly in Jira

Which Airtable plans include Jira integration?

Jira Cloud is available for Airtable Teams, Business, and Enterprise Scale plans, while Jira Server / Data Center is available for Airtable Enterprise Scale plans.
