Dr. Fatma Mohamed is the Head of Department of Structural and Construction Engineering at the University of Dar es Salaam. As an architect, she works in promoting sustainability in the built environment through use of integrative design approach, renewable energy, construction materials and regulatory policies. She has worked extensively and collaboratively with international partners in researches related to sustainability and has an experience of over ten years in the construction industry in Tanzania. She is the Chairperson of the National Construction Council of Tanzania and one of the founders of the Sustainable Construction for Sub-Saharan Africa (SusCon-SSA) network that works to connect Africa’s prospective decision makers with multi-disciplinary state of the art knowledge and practice for decision making in the construction industry.
