Dr. Henri PAILLERE has over 26 years of experience in the nuclear energy sector and is currently working as Head of the Planning and Economic Studies Section at the International Atomic Energy Agency which he joined in February 2020. Before that, Henri worked at the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency in Paris between 2011 and 2019, as Senior Analyst and Deputy Head of the Division of Nuclear Technology Development and Economics. He was also the head of the Technical Secretariat for two international initiatives, the Generation IV International Forum, and the International Framework for Nuclear Energy Cooperation. Prior to these positions, he worked as R&D Program Manager at the Alstom Power Company and at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in various positions, including European Programme Manager in the Nuclear Energy Division of CEA. He holds a PhD from Universite Libre de Bruxelles / von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics (Belgium, 1995), a Masters of Science in Aerospace Engineering from U. Michigan (US, 1991), and an engineering degree from Ecole Nationale Superieure de techniques Avancees (France, 1991). He has contributed to several publications related to the contribution of nuclear power to energy transitions, including: The Role of Nuclear Energy in a Low-carbon Energy Future (NEA, 2012), Technology Roadmap: Nuclear Energy (IEA/NEA, 2015), Climate Change: Assessment of the Vulnerability of Nuclear Power Plants and Approaches for their Adaptation (NEA, 2021), Nuclear Energy for a Net Zero World (IAEA, 2021).
