This base is derived from the principles laid out in my blog post titled "I couldn’t find a good Personal CRM — So I created my own and want to share it with you," which you can read for more background info. Make a copy for yourself—replace the fake names and other filler data in here with your own contacts.
I wanted a CRM tool that was cloud-based, easy to update, and customizable. This crux of the system is the 4 category tagging system. As I meet new people, I use four tag families to describe their attributes:
The first two are pretty straightforward (and very similar to LinkedIn); however, much of the magic occurs when you understand and connect upon an individual’s passions and personality traits. Quite simply, people connect more deeply over their personal commonalities than the information on their business cards.
It's easy to create filters to identify all contacts with a particular skill/expertise (i.e. "Do you know any angels?") or with shared interests (i.e. "Who are all the folks who are sneakerheads?"). A form makes it easy to input contacts on the go.
In summary, I've heard a lot of people yearn for something that fills the space between LinkedIn and a CRM and I hope this tool can help you bridge that gap. Please hit me up @khemaridh with any comments, questions, and suggestions. Have a wonderful day!
