What is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool?

A sales CRM, or Customer Relationship Management system, is a software tool designed to help manage interactions with current and potential customers. It serves as a centralized database where you can store customer data, track interactions, manage leads and opportunities, and analyze sales performance. A sales CRM can help you streamline your sales process - from staying on top of interactions with prospects to moving deals through the funnel more efficiently - ultimately helping your business drive revenue growth.

Why are sales CRMs important?

Sales CRMs provide a centralized platform for managing customer relationships and sales processes. By organizing and consolidating customer data, interactions, and sales activities, CRMs enable businesses to foster stronger connections with their prospects and customers and keep their sales pipeline organized & on track. With features like contact management, account management, and pipeline tracking, CRMs empower sales teams to prioritize the most promising opportunities. Sales CRMs can also facilitate better communication and collaboration amongst your team by providing a single source of truth throughout the sales cycle. Through analytics and reporting, CRMs also offer valuable insights into sales performance and trends, allowing sales managers to more effectively manage their team & make data-driven decisions to improve the company’s overall sales strategy.

How does a CRM work?

A CRM imposes a set of structured records to help teams keep track of their sales. To use a CRM, a sales team needs to enter information about their prospects, customers, and activities (either manually or automatically) into the relevant field within their CRM.

A good CRM will allow teams to customize fields to meet their needs, create automations that make task tracking simpler, and will make it easy to create dashboards that show sales performance at a glance.
