On January 19, 2024, the NYC School Construction Authority (SCA) provided notice of construction work at PS 47 - The American Sign Language and English Lower School at 225 East 23rd Street.
The 201 East 23rd Street construction team at the 201 East 23rd Street site will provide periodic look-aheads to notify neighbors of activities occurring at the site and any potential impacts they may have on the community.
Please be advised that on February 15, 2025 and February 16, 2025 with a back up of February 22, 2025 and February 23, 2025 from 8 AM to 6 PM Saturdays and 9 AM to 6 PM Sundays, the East 20th Street Service Road between First Avenue and the 20th Street Loop will be closed to vehicular traffic for crane operations at 330 First Avenue.
There is work on Phase 2 of the East Side Coastal Resiliency Project, as well as the Parallel Conveyance Project for East Side Coastal Resiliency, an initiative to provide long-term flood protection to parts of Manhattan's East Side. Due to this work, there may be closures in Stuyvesant Cove Park and detours in the project area (15th to 25th Street). The New York City Department of Design and Construction (NYCDDC) is managing the rehabilitation of pedestrian ramps at designated locations in Manhattan and Queens, on behalf of the NYC Department of Transportation (NYCDOT).
The following corners will undergo pedestrian ramp rehabilitation:
Work on Second Avenue and surrounding areas is ongoing. Typical work hours will be from 7 AM to 4:30 PM and will install new curbs, catch basins, sewers, hydrants, and water mains. Additionally, the bicycle rack on 35th Street and 3rd Avenue has been temporarily removed as a result of the ongoing work (with a temporary station installed on Lexington Avenue and East 36th Street). Also note that the bus stops on 3rd Avenue between 32nd and 33rd Street, 3rd Avenue between 33rd and 34th Street, and
JEK Communications, Inc. has been contracted by Spectrum to conduct excavation work on the existing cable television infrastructure at 729 2nd Avenue. All affected areas will be restored to their original condition upon completion of the work.
The FDR Service Road will be closed between East 30th Street and East 34th Street for crane operations from February 1, 2025 to February 9, 2025 on Saturdays and Sundays between 7 AM and 3 PM. Signage will be updated to alert the community. Flaggers will be onsite during working hours for pedestrians' safety.

East 41st Street between Tunnel Exit Street and 2nd Avenue will be closed from 12:01 am to 8 am Saturday and Sunday through 2/9/25 to facilitate crane operation.

In October 2022, New York City Transit (NYCT) began a multi-phase project to fully replace four escalators at the 53rd Street-Lexington Avenue station on the E and M lines. This work will have significant impact on passengers’ access to the station as the MTA removes and replaces the 25-year-old escalators which span 54 feet from platform level to mezzanine level.
