This prospective cohort study assesses thrombotic risk in 150 SARS-CoV-2 patients hospitalized with ARDS in 4 ICUs in France. This case-series of 6 patients from MGH illustrates the potential efficacy of VV-ECMO as a bridge to recovery of patients with COVID-19. ECMO cannulation was performed on selected patients with P:F<100 (at consultation) s/p proning, paralysis, and trial of nitric oxide; cannulation was performed at a median of 5.5 days post-admission. In terms of 28 day outcomes, one patient died of hemorrhagic CVA, one remained cannulated, and 4 were decannulated after a median of 12 (4-18) days on the circuit.

This article summarizes 44 recommendations related to pediatric Covid-19 patients presenting with respiratory distress or failure, sepsis or septic shock, cardiopulmonary arrest, MIS-C, those requiring adjuvant therapies or ECMO. Where evidence was lacking, gaps were filled with consensus-based guidelines.
