Haiti experienced severe social and political protests over the past two years that threatened to overthrow the government, but the pandemic calmed the protests and those opposed to the government have difficulty organizing protests.

The pandemics has altered the traditional path of the government in terms of international diplomacy. The current administration is a big support of foreign policy, but has decided to engage with the president of Madagascar in the efforts to respond to the pandemic

The pandemic has, by default, brought some political stability as political opponents to the current government are less able to plan or stage political protests

Reluctance to change behaviors at the beginning as people tended to believe that the government was lying about the reality of the pandemics. Progressively though, people have started taking that seriously and some mass gatherings such as churches have stopped, but it still difficult to stop people going to the beach.

People have constantly defied the state injunction to stay home. They see such state decision as unrealistic; in their view it's just people with access to money, power and resources asking poor people to stay home without resources and food.

The capacity of the state to provide support and benefits to people has come even under more scrutiny during the Covid-19 crisis. People see the state as both weak and corrupt and therefore doubt it can be really support them during this crisis.
