2020 NZSM Combo Competition Application Form

Sunday 30 August 2020, 5pm Meow, hosted by Wellington Jazz Club Prizes awarded by the Wellington Jazz Club: 1st place: $800 2nd place: $400 3rd place: $300 Prizes also for Best first-year combo, Best Original Composition and Best Arrangement. • Entry is open to NZSM students. • Each student may only perform with one combo. • A combo must have a minimum of three members and a maximum of eight. • Each group will prepare two contrasting pieces in jazz styles. This may include one original piece. • Judging will be based on technical proficiency, overall musicianship and original handling of material. • Total performance time must not exceed 12 minutes. • You will need to provide a brief ‘blurb’ about the band stating personnel, band history and repertoire information. • Entries open Monday 20 July 2020. • Entries close Monday 10 August 2020 at 5pm.
