Bay Area Essential Workers Agenda

During the COVID-19 pandemic, corporations have made record profits, while essential workers who kept the Bay Area running but were never able to benefit from its wealth in the first place, suffered the greatest impacts. As the Bay Area receives hundreds of millions of dollars from the federal government for pandemic recovery, far too little attention has been focused on the workers who are the backbone of our economy and whose work carried all of us through the pandemic. It's time to lift up the voice of low-wage workers! We are a coalition of seven worker centers representing immigrant workers and workers of color in the Bay Area. Together, we surveyed over 1,400 low-wage workers to find out how they have been impacted by the pandemic, and what workers want in a good job. These results define the Bay Area Essential Workers Agenda. Workers need: #1: Thriving Wages, with Paid Sick Leave and Paid Time Off #2: Voice and Respect on the Job, Right to Organize Without Retaliation #3: Safety Net: Healthcare, Unemployment, Family Care #4: Real Pathways to Quality Jobs, with Training and Advancement Read our full platform: https://www.essentialworkersagenda.org/
