COVID-19 fellowship application for New Jersey ethnic, community and immigrant media
As the COVID-19 pandemic spreads further across the United States, it is becoming clear that communities of color are being disproportionately affected and harmed. As we seek to deepen our work with and support of ethnic, community and immigrant media in New Jersey, the Center has created a fellowship opportunity specifically designed to support, increase and amplify reporting in New Jersey ethnic, immigrant and marginalized communities regarding the new coronavirus and COVID-19 disease. Those fellows will work with the Center over the next six months, between May 1, 2020 and Oct. 31, 2020. During the fellowship, the fellows will: ➡️ Receive a stipend of at least $1,500 each. ➡️ Be expected to produce two stories at approximately 1,000 words each, both in-language and in English. The in-language version must be published by the journalist’s own publication. The English language version will be published by the Center and made available for republication, with full credit, by NJ News Commons partners. ➡️ Attend an initial training webinar related to COVID-19. ➡️ Attend as many COVID-training webinars as possible; up to twice a month will be scheduled over the six month fellowship. Fill out the form below to apply for the fellowship. Applications must be received by April 27, 2020. Questions? Email Oni Advincula at advinculaa@montclair.edu or oni.advincula@gmail.com.
