Safety at Sundance: Member Stories

Over the years, BGDM has supported hundreds of our members to attend Sundance, True/False, Tribeca, HotDocs, Camden, and many other top film festivals because we believe it's crucial for our community to be "in the room." Despite our best efforts to help members navigate these spaces safely, and to work with the fests to build nurturing environments for BIPOC women and nonbinary people, unfortunately many of our members have experienced harm in these environments—many of them small towns across America. Part of our intention in BGDM attending Sundance is to generate a haven for our members—as we consider what safety looks like at Sundance and on screen, on set, and at future festivals. As we dream towards a safer Sundance and doc festivals overall, we invite our community to share your stories, and join our BGDM Town Hall to discuss what a safety and collective care look like. Please note that unless indicated otherwise by you, all of your information will be kept anonymous.

Have you experienced harm in a festival setting before? Please share your story below.
