Rethinking economics is an international network of students, academics and professionals building a better economics in society and the classroom. The India Network aims to bring together an ecosystem of stakeholders in the space - individuals, universities, civil society, and the private sector-to scale collaborative efforts for teaching, learning, and discussion. We will be hosting our Annual Event from 20th September 2021 to 03rd October 2021. Our discussions will be centred around the themes of diversity, decolonisation, pluralism, climate and environment, and growth and capacity building. We are excited to organise our first-ever Policy Case Competition in collaboration with the National Network of Sex Workers and the Foundation to Aid Industrial Recovery. The policy case competition encourages you to apply your learnings from the classroom and aims to push aspiring policymakers to think critically, evaluate the shortcomings of the existing policies, and recommend solutions. This year, we have chosen the theme as “Hidden voices of sex-workers in India”. Marginalised genders who work in the sex industry face challenges on various fronts, including health, education, and social justice as a result of their marginalisation The event is open to undergraduate students, masters students and school students of the batch of 2021(who have passed class 12th boards examinations in the year 2021). We are accepting individual registrations as well as teams of up to a maximum of 3 participants. Further details regarding the timeline and case background will be shared post-registration. For any queries, please feel free to reach out to us at india@rethinkeconomics.org. The registrations for the competition are closed.
