CAA, incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1975, is the oldest and largest Cambodian organization in the United States. The organization has been instrumental in establishing the Cambodian community in Long Beach and promoting small businesses along the Anaheim and Atlantic corridors, an area known to many as “Cambodia Town”. Currently, CAA operates fourteen programs funded by federal, state, county, city and private foundations. Since 2000, CAA has expanded services to serve non-Asian groups, including Hispanics, African Americans, and Caucasians. Each year over 3,000 people receive direct services from CAA. Our outreach education programs reach over 15,000 people per year.
The mission of our early founders was to assist Cambodian refugees in Southern California in acculturating to life in America while preserving the Cambodian culture, customs, and values. During its first years, CAA operated on the resources of its members out of a garage with little assistance from outside funding sources. Even so, they were successful in providing translation, transportation, and acculturation classes to newly arriving refugees; in advocating for the rights of Southeast Asians on a local and national level; in assisting over twenty Cambodian associations in establishing throughout the U.S.; and in participating in a national cluster project relocating newly arriving refugees throughout the U.S.

The Chin community has been growing in number in Indianapolis since 2000 due to fleeing from the military dictatorship of our mother country, Burma (Myanmar). Having been relocated to a new place and environment, we face many challenges that make us willingly help each other to meet our basic social and human needs. The social condition of the Chin community necessitated the emergence of a community organization to serve its members’ day to day survival. With such a conviction and in order to serve the Chin community, providing means to integrate into the local social structure, the Chin in Indiana established the Chin Community of Indiana (CCI) on July 20, 2001. Our community population has grown to nearly 20,000 people in 2020.
Our mission is to enhance the quality of life by empowering our community to be self-sufficient and engaging in cultural, social, and economic development while promoting racial harmony, goodwill, and justice in society.

NAPABA is an umbrella Asian Pacific American bar association comprised of local Asian Pacific American bar associations, as well as individual members. From the beginning, NAPABA's affiliate organizations have played a key role in publicizing and addressing Asian Pacific American legal issues. Indeed, not until the number of affiliate organizations was sufficiently large and their members sufficiently numerous could NAPABA even be formed in the late 1980's. Today, the affiliate organizations continue to be vital to NAPABA, alerting the organization to local issues across the nation and providing a reservoir of tested local leaders who can then contribute to and lead NAPABA at the national level.
