We traveled from Florida to attend Mark's 20th high school reunion, and when I discovered the Joshua Tree's location was only a couple hours' drive away, we decided to try to find it. After staying overnight in Lone Pine, CA, we ventured out. We drove on 190 for a little bit using GPS to locate the general vicinity, and then parked on the side of the road. I went there a couple of years ago, right before seeing the JT tour at the Rose Bowl. Pulled up just as someone was driving off. I jammed my headphones in my ears and pressed play on my iPhone, and sang along to The Joshua Tree. I kicked my boots in the dust as I explored the site, took plenty of picture, signed my name on the t-shirt in the suitcase, and sang the entire time.
