Adoption Screeners Application
After filling out an adoption application, potential adopters have a phone interview and home visit with LIRRG volunteers. Adoption screening volunteers will call applicants to ask a series of predetermined questions to see if the candidate is appropriate for the next step in the approval process. During the call, the volunteer will discuss proper care, housing, etc., and address questions. Volunteers will fill out an online form with a detailed write-up of the conversation, including any "red flags" that may be cause for rejection. Screeners do not approve or deny candidates; these volunteers share all gathered information and insights from the phone conversation with the LIRRG management team. By filling out this form, you are indicating your desire to help on a weekly basis on the days you selected. You will not be asked to make more than one call in a day, unless a special circumstance arises. Volunteers must be both an ambassador for rabbit adoption and a gatekeeper, so those applicants who aren't ready to adopt or don't accept LIRRG policies are identified. You must be at least 18 years of age. Selected volunteers will receive training and on-going education support in a private Facebook group.
