Aum Energy is a technology developer focused on climate tech. Focus is to reduce methane and CO2 emissions from anaerobic digestion (AD) through a combination of biotechnology and microalgae solutions. The AD industry is large (18,000 plants in Europe), but lacks a tailor-made biotechnology that allows the efficient processing of ligno-cellulosics (wood, cereal straw and grasses). Our ADX solution fills this gap and will uplift profitability and support scaling. Algae will capture waste CO2.

Carbon180 is a new breed of climate NGO on a mission to reverse two centuries of carbon emissions. The truth is, climate change can’t be fully addressed without removing legacy carbon from the atmosphere. Working closely with US policymakers, entrepreneurs, and peer organizations, we design policies that will bring necessary carbon removal solutions to gigaton scale. Together, we can create a livable climate in which current and future generations can thrive.

Our major focal areas are: (i) catalysis, and (ii) capture of CO2 from air, or “direct air capture” (DAC). We collaborate extensively with others at the intersection of materials design and process engineering, with example projects and publications given here.

Effectively this means re-introducing large herbivores that lived here during the ice age (or close analogues) and establishing high productive grasslands. This vegetation will actively sequester carbon in the cold Arctic soils. As a co-benefit, high productive grazing ecosystems prevent climate change induced permafrost thaw. Sun24 trains smallholder farmers to make and use biochar in two ways. First, women are trained to use crop waste as fuel in a "cooking hole" to biochar, eliminating their need to use firewood. Second, farmers who burn their crop waste in the field are trained to use the "top-down burn" to burn more cleanly while making biochar. The farmers are then trained to charge their biochar and apply it to their crops.
