Feb 8 -- overall recipe looks good! here are notes
PORK RILLETTE
:03 no reason to go to this CU at this point in time; it’s distracting. You can cut to it when he says “pork rillettes”
:35 – too long on this CU; rule of thumb: don’t stay on static Cu’s longer than 2 (max 3) seconds unless there is something really interesting going on. HK is more interesting to watch at this point. Plus they already saw it.
1:54 to 1:59 If HK is expressive or animated on wide shot, go back to it, after first spoon goes in and lands. 5/22 GO BACK TO WIDE SHOT AFTER FIRST SPOON OF CINNAMON LANDS IN BOWL.
2:19 – CU is kind of boring, did you use it to cover a cut on gloves going on? I can live with it if the glove thing is awkward (which it often is)
4:37 since he doesn’t say that much during the transferring of th e meat, would be nice to kick in with a piece of music to keep up the energy. Maybe fade out the previous selection 15 seconds prior.
5:02 – would be nice to move up video and see the mixing action starting right away; I don’t think people will notice he didn’t have enough time to put on gloves.
5:11 – it’s kind of long on the CU of meat shredding; if there are any points where HK is talking to camera (like here), please go back to WS
7:00 - this would be a nice place to kick in with some music (it’s always good to kick with music when any dead area starts or there’s a transition to a new section)
Also, we typically cheat here and cut to a CU of the refrigerator door coming open and taking out the new one (if CU camera was there)
7:54 – can’t use same CU again. Also, I think there was a misunderstanding about Matt's “ending on a beauty shot” directive. We need to end on shot of Hubert giving the close and pitch to next segment. Then a beauty shot follows his close. Hopefully it’s a different beauty shot/angle than what you used in the final part of the recipe.
MAY 22 -- all changes look good. There's only one I'd like you to adjust -- see about in caps at 1:54 (cinnamon into bowl) I don't need to see the change again, so no need to send it to dropbox.
