thanks, approved.
Fri 1/8 From Frank - Whoops, sorry, placed it in the wrong folder. It's there now.
Fri 1/8 --from MP: Seems like you made change in open of show, but I don't see in drop box.
STATUS ON 1/6: MP just made one comment about footage at head of segment, otherwise recipe is done.
:36 I notice jump cut; how does it look to go to CU of boiling water instead?
There isn't a CU--the B-cam pans from octopus to water, with only a few frames showing before the vinegar is poured in.
IT'S OK.
1:21 Was this the recipe where he told about all the myths about how to cook a tender octopus? It may have been in another octopus recipe we did, but if it was in this one, not sure I want to cut it all out. In fact, show is a bit short, so we could use the time.
Done.
1:30 important: did he make any reference to the fact that “one was done ahead” or how long it had cooked? If not, we may need to see if we can go into the other octopus recipe and pull something out…. cutting of octopus: seems like we could use some music here. Not sure if music was laid into this recipe or not.
He says to boil the octopus for an hour to an hour and a half, after he puts the octopus into the water, and before he mentions the cork.
MP: just want to make sure he never said "over here we've got one we did ahead" or something similar -- he normally says that
Watched the raw footage from the beginning just to be safe. He didn't say anything like that. Probably forgot because he was into his cork secret.
3:46 this music seems to heavy to go under recipes. If you think we need to compose some additional beds of music, let me know.
3:24 we never see the octopus go on the grill
Originally removed to keep the segment as short as possible; has been placed back in.
4:33 I would stay on CU a little longer here (maybe 3 seconds?)
Extended cut--Camera pans to bowl. Originally I was trying to avoid the pan, but on second look I think it works.
8:07 – feels a little jumpy going from Cu to WS – try staying on CU for first two octopus pieces, then back to WS
Had to cut around a soft focus; It's now kept wide, then goes to CU for the 2nd and 3rd pieces to avoid the focus adjustment.
8:28 stay on CU for another 1.5 seconds; also after lemon goes on and after microgreens go on (add about 1.5 seconds to CU)
Done.
end of recipe: do you think we should keep “so don’t get away” or eliminate? (since he said “get” instead of “go”)
I've removed the "Don't get awawy" and it works just fine.
All remaining changes above look good. Music sounds good as well. Here are some additional ones for you to look at after viewing on 1/1
ADDITIONAL NOTES
:08 go back to WS on “and I have some”
Done
:35 it still feels like a jumpy cut – (just before he says, “I have some water boiling here”) what did you cut out here and was it necessary?
He talks about how once you start working with octopus, to go buy frozen octopus. Was cut for time, but I put it back in so you can see.\
FROM MP (1/6) THAT WAS ACTUALLY AN IMPORTANT TIP THAT NEEDS TO BE IN . ALSO, THE SHOW IS ACTUALLY SHORT, SO WE NEED THE TIME.
:53 – want to double check that you did not cut out any references to his explanation of the tempering process of the octopus (dipping it 3X in boiling water). If so, it needs to go back in.
Done
4:56 delete “so once I have that”
Done
ADDITIONAL NOTE ON 1/6 FROM MP
I just realized that you may have cut out something at the very head of the segment where he is lifting the Octopus out of the bowl. If so, I'd like you to put it back in because it always struck me a little strange that we open on him just holding it like that.
Done!@@@@
