This started off as a personal compilation of information from online gardening guides. Lots of credit goes to those guide creators for making this project possible for me, and I have linked them specifically in the "Credits" tab of this airtable! I always wanted an easier way to filter types of plants when looking things up, so I began by organizing info in airtable, adding in tags and categories as I went. I then planted and researched every plant in the game to double-check what I already had, update info that needed it, and add things that were missing. I also then went ahead and added a ton of extra info such as tags for crafting, size, location, etc.
As of 8/19/21 this has every gardening plant for every pack up through Cottage Living. That means everything that shows up in the gardening category on the game's collections page (plus the new oversized crops). If I somehow missed anything or made any mistakes please let me know so that I can correct it! I plan on keeping this list updated as long as I am still playing the game.
I tend to get a little caught up with planning/tracking things in games, so I ended up creating an airtable for all the plants in TS4 with a ton of categories, tags, and bonus information.
With airtable's many functions, this database can be filtered, sorted, or grouped in any way you like, which makes it very convenient for planning your gardens. Need winter plants that can grow in a vertical planter and are used for crafting magical potions? You can filter for that. There are tons of possibilities. :)
Airtable might be a little confusing at first if you've never used it before, but the basic functions are actually very simple! The main things you will likely use with this database are filters, sorting, and hidden fields. These are found at the bar near the top.
Filter lets you filter any category by tag, word, etc, and you can add as many as you need (if you want to view only summer plants, for example, this is what you would use). Sort lets you change the order based on any category, and also allows multiple options (if you want it to go back to the original state just have sort by "list order"). And lastly, hidden fields has simple check boxes toggle which categories are displayed.
➡ To easily view information in grid view: select the row that you want (clicking/tapping on any cell should do), and then click the diagonal double arrow in blue that appears on the left edge.
To view the different sections of this airtable simply select an option from the categories in the lefthand sidebar.
