Plex may skew to the more techy type person, but it's incredibly polished, not too difficult for the complete amateur to learn, and incredibly useful.
Plex is software that lets you essentially build your own media center cloud, aka, replace Netflix, Google Photos, and iTunes Music, if you're so inclined to use all those components. I primarily use it for it's Netflix piece, streaming video content.
It consists of a server, which runs on <a href="

It's incredibly useful software that when used well, saves you money, and allows you to access all your content, personal, to purchased on any device you own.
I use it mostly for streaming movies, tv shows, backing up my photos and listening to my iTunes library on various devices including my living room TV and my iPhone...and occasionally my computer at work.
Yes, it's a little technical, but it's worth every ounce of effort and it looks amazing, I'm talking, it makes my content look BETTER than Netflix, iTunes, and Google Photos, it's that well made and supported. I've been using it for over 5 years.
Check it out, I highly recommend it.
