This is the book that first shocked me into any awareness of climate. It's a comprehensive, very readable story of why climate matters, written by a journalist who herself went through the journey from not caring to caring.
It's now a documentary and impact project too!
It's timely -- published April 2023 -- and comes from the uniquely important perspective of top UK Black feminist climate activist Mikaela Loach: how tackling racism and the climate crisis are one and the same.
Recommended even for experienced climate activists!
It's a beautifully poetic book by an author who is at once a botanist, a poet, and of indigenous ancestry, so she comes from all 3 perspectives. This is the book that made me fall in love with nature. Love is at the heart of it all, isn't it?
You can probably find copies in your local library, too, as I did.
Trees are truly amazing! You'll realize all the wonders upon reading this book. A love of nature and its delights, and just how alike they are to us, is an important catalyst for joining the fight to save the environment.
I included an article about the book, but of course you can just google it to find a way to purchase it, or find it in your local library, as I did.
Heat is the #1 natural disaster killer, more than all other deaths by natural disaster combined. It's important to understand how heat kills, often very invisibly, so we can learn to adapt and save ourselves and our loved ones. This book also helps us grasp one of the most immediate consequences of the climate crisis that is coming upon us as we speak, and can galvanize us towards action. It's also a very timely book -- just published this year!
Included a book review instead of the book purchase link, which you can find by googling it and finding it at your favorite platform for getting books.
