Arabic music awakening classes for kidsMarch 30, 2025 10:00March 30, 2025 13:00Brique par brique (633 Beaumont Av.)Kan Ya Makan offers musical awakening classes to children under the age of 6 years old in Arabic. These classes bring together the children and their parents as they connect to the Arabic language through the discovery of musical tonalities, rhythms and styles. This program creates a space for children and parents to explore their linguistic and cultural heritage through play and music. Kan Ya Makan encourages social interactions with music by using the ukulele, guitar, percussion instruments, lap songs, movement songs, instrument exploration, parachute play, scarf play and bubbles. The program models the best ways for parents to incorporate music and song in their child’s journey in learning the Arabic language. In seeing and hearing their parents, children will be encouraged to explore the world of music AND languageKan Ya Makan is a group of moms, educators and artists from the Arab community. We want to teach Arabic to the community through play and art. We are still new and we are slowly establishing ourselves and presence in the community.Sliding scale fee

Bollywood Dance (6pm-7:15pm): This vibrant dance form exercises coordination, expression, stamina, and emotion. With roots in Indian classical dances like Bharatanatyam and Kathak, Bollywood has evolved to incorporate various folk dances from around India and continues to inspire with new global influences. In this class, you’ll explore the basic elements of Bollywood dance, including body isolations, hand gestures (mudras), flow, footwork, and theatrics. Bhangra Dance (7:30pm-8:45pm): Discover the exciting rhythms and energetic movements of Bhangra, a traditional dance from the Punjab region of India and Pakistan. Known for its lively beats, colorful costumes, and joyful expressions, Bhangra is an exhilarating dance style that blends traditional folk elements with modern influences. In this class, you’ll learn the basic steps, footwork, and formations that make Bhangra so lively and engaging. At the end of the sessions, participants will have the opportunity to showcase their progress in a final performance at the Monsoon Festival hosted by Brique par brique on June 24th.
