Summary
Feel Good Baptist Church will start hosting a support group for divorced women. The support group will include a 6-week group curriculum that is aimed towards adults who are 35 to 55 years old.
FGBC divorce support group will be open to the public; walk-ins are just as welcomed as those who attend Feel Good Baptist Church. There will not be a set amount of people in these sessions. It would be fine if someone wants to come to each session, and it will also be fine if they only want to attend one session. Those who are interested in attending FGBC could either sign up in person, or sign-up online.
Also, the church will sponsor this program so that services can be free. The church is able to support this group financially by having church members organize fund-raisers such as selling home-made goods to church members or advertising a car wash. Tithes and offerings is the second way the church will fund this support group; church members give 10 percent of their income to the church. FGBC applied for grants, found volunteers, and is continuing to receive donations.
This support group was developed to help those who are having difficulties navigating their life after divorce. People tend to have difficulties with accepting, forgiving, loving, and moving on after a divorce. Our session topics were picked due to the similarities in problems from those who have visited the church and the members of the church.
Participants in FGBC support group will attend one session every week for six weeks. We will meet every Thursday at 6 p.m. We will start off with confidentiality and consent. Afterward, we will create group norms together. The session will follow the group norms. Each session will include goals, objectives, a warm-up, the session’s topic and an activity, discussion prompts/reflections, and a wrap-up.
