Abbott Labs announced that it is making its BinaxNOW Covid-19 rapid antigen test available to schools, universities, pharmacies and workplaces that require frequent and affordable testing.The company is also sharing its testing blueprint with customers interested in learning the model it has used to get its workforce back to its facilities and maintain their health safety.
In an effort to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the City of North Chicago is opening a free temporary vaccine administration clinic at the Greenbelt Cultural Center. The clinic will initially serve an estimated 1,700 North Chicago residents age 65 and over. The temporary facility will be able to serve approximately 150 people per day beginning on February 15 and operate for two months.“The partnership between the city, AbbVie, North Chicago Community Partners, and the Lake County Health Department to bring this vaccination site together so quickly is remarkable,” said North Chicago Mayor Leon Rockingham, Jr. “Our seniors are the most vulnerable to this devastating virus, I am grateful to see the COVID vaccinations offered to them with easy access right in their community.” The clinic is sponsored by AbbVie, a research-based global biopharmaceutical company, with a long-standing commitment to North Chicago. Working in partnership with AbbVie, North Chicago Community Partners is reaching out to eligible community members to help register them to receive the vaccine.In total, about 550 AbbVie volunteers will staff 11 vaccine clinic days at the Fairgrounds in the spring, directly contributing to about 11,000 vaccinations. In combination with the senior clinic efforts, AbbVie is helping bring an anticipated 16,000+ vaccines to local residents.

Amazon made over 150 process updates, including enhanced cleaning and social distancing measures, and implemented disinfectant spraying and temperature checks across operations worldwide. Amazon distributed personal protective gear, including millions of masks for employees. An employee diagnosed with COVID-19 receives up to two weeks of paid time off—in addition to other paid and unpaid time off options. Amazon employees receive comprehensive health benefits starting on Day 1 of employment. Amazon established a $25 million relief fund for partners, such as delivery drivers, and seasonal associates facing financial hardship or quarantine. With an eye on customers, Amazon is vigorously combating price gouging to ensure fair pricing and fight entities seeking to profit off the COVID-19 crisis. Amazon is also looking ahead to help upskill America’s workforce.On February 3, The Amazon Fulfillment Center team in Tucson, Arizona, launched a four-week volunteer commitment to support the community distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. American Airlines plans to offer COVID-19 vaccines to its employees at medical clinics at its hub airports once they are available, with inoculation for Chicago-based employees possible as soon as next month.American Airlines is not requiring the vaccine for employees but is working on a plan with local health authorities and its medical partner Premise, which has filed the necessary paperwork to get access to the vaccine as soon as possible.
To ensure an uninterrupted supply of Amgen medicines for patients around the world, the company has made the health and safety of its staff a top priority throughout the pandemic. Amgen is encouraging all staff to get a COVID-19 vaccine when it's their turn, according to availability in each country or region where staff are located. To drive education and awareness among staff about vaccine safety and COVID-19 prevention, the company has created an internal resource center, along with multimedia communications initiatives. In addition, Amgen is contributing to the fight against COVID-19 through a manufacturing collaboration with Lilly to significantly increase the available supply of Lilly's COVID-19 antibody therapies.
Amtrak is giving the equivalent of two hours of pay to employees who get vaccinated. The company is also offering paid time off for workers to get vaccinated during work hours and will excuse absences due to any side effects.
Budweiser will not be running a commercial during the Super Bowl for the first time in 37 years. Arizona is planning to use State Farm Stadium as a massive COVID-19 vaccination center following a rollout of vaccinations statewide. The 63,400 seat stadium will open on Monday, January 11 with plans to remain open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the capacity to vaccinate 6,000 Arizonans a day.State Farm Stadium is owned by the Arizona Sports & Tourism Authority (AZSTA) and operated by ASM Global.
AT&T is strongly encouraging vaccination and providing up to four hours’ paid time off per dose to allow employees to receive the vaccine. The cost of the vaccine will be covered by AT&T’s medical plans. The company has also established a notification system that will alert them when vaccinations become available on a priority basis in their area. Additionally, the company has established an internal resource center to educate employees, including hosting video conversations between the CEO and medical professionals on the development, distribution and efficacy of the vaccine, as well as tools to help locate nearby vaccine facilities.
A senior living company based in Birmingham is hoping to help stop the spread of the coronavirus by announcing its COVID-19 vaccination incentive program for all of its employees, a bonus that is measured at about $1.1 million dollars.The program will be offered to every full-time and part-time employee in each community that is owned or managed by Atlas with locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Tennessee in addition to its corporate office in Birmingham.The Atlas leadership team says that this program is an opportunity to educate and motivate employees to vaccinate. Although Atlas is within the senior living and healthcare industries where vaccinations would be prioritized, the decision to roll out this program and the dollars behind it is a major step to taking action on a company level against the coronavirus.

Bank of America staff will have the option of two half days, for up to four hours each to complete vaccinations this year.
Bayer has signed a collaboration and services agreement with CureVac N.V., a biopharmaceutical company developing a new class of transformative medicines based on messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA). Under the terms of the agreement, Bayer will support the further development, supply and key territory operations of CureVac´s COVID-19 vaccine candidate CVnCoV. To this end, Bayer will contribute its expertise and established infrastructure in areas such as clinical operations, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, medical information, supply chain performance as well as support in selected countries.Based on the collaboration agreement, CureVac will be the Marketing Authorization Holder for the product, while Bayer will support CureVac with country operations within the European Union (EU) and selected additional markets. Bayer holds further options to become Marketing Authorization Holder in other markets outside of Europe. The companies plan to combine their strengths for CureVac to be in a position to supply hundreds of millions of CVnCoV doses around the world, once approvals are granted. Together both companies aim to play a meaningful role to contribute to stop the COVID-19 pandemic.
BD announced that it has received pandemic orders for needles and syringes totaling more than 1 billion injection devices to support global COVID-19 vaccination planning efforts.In addition to supporting immediate efforts for COVID-19 vaccination readiness, BD is also working on multiple fronts to help ensure the global community is prepared for future pandemic vaccination efforts by:- Partnering with the U.S. government on a $70 million capital project to further expand BD's operations and manufacturing capacity in Nebraska. The new capacity is expected to be online in summer 2021 and once completed, the federal government will have priority access to hundreds of millions of injection devices to support vaccination efforts for COVID-19 and future pandemics.- Investing approximately $1.2 billion over a 4-year period to expand and upgrade manufacturing capacity and technology for pre-fillable syringes and advanced drug delivery systems to allow for continued growth of new injectable drugs and vaccines, but also provide surge capacity for increased pre-fillable syringe demand during times of pandemic response.- Actively engaging with med-tech associations and research groups to address challenges, solutions and further innovation in support of a more sustainable future vaccine ecosystem.
Best Buy is offering paid time off for any employee who gets a COVID-19 vaccination, as well as additional sick time if side effects from getting vaccinated. Best Buy is not requiring employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but strongly encourages them to consider doing so for their safety and the safety of loved ones and co-workers. Best Buy will also be paying all U.S. hourly employees a one-time bonus for the incredible work they’ve performed during this past year of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company also expects to offer on-site vaccines to employees and dependents as supply becomes available. The company has also augmented its policies to allow for up to 4 hours of paid time for employees to receive the vaccine while allowing up to 40 hours of paid time for its employees to volunteer at vaccine administration sites across our geographic footprint.

Bolthouse Farms CEO Jeff Dunn announced plans to give all of his 1,800 full-time hourly employees at the company’s California plant a $500 bonus for getting the Covid-19 vaccine. Bolthouse has vaccinated more than 1,000 of its 1,800 employees since holding its first vaccination clinic on Feb. 26 for employees 65 and older. Since March 12 it has had weekly clinics.
Booz Allen is providing some pro bono consulting support related to workforce planning for vaccine distribution. The company has also provided charitable support for a vaccine supercenter in San Diego.
BRIA Health Services, a long-term residential care and rehab provider, is offering a bonus of $150 for staff who get the vaccine. BRIA’s long-term care facilities have been hard hit by COVID-related deaths and questions over how the company handled outbreaks. “This is the most critical weapon in our fight against COVID-19,” BRIA spokesperson Natalie Bauer Luce said. Luce said they also have a task force of infectious disease experts answering questions from employees who may be hesitant to get vaccinated. “So, we’re pulling out all the stops doing everything we can just to help people make an informed decision and hope that they do get the shot,” Luce said.
Bridgestone will offer its 33,000 U.S. employees $100 payments to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
One local dry ice company is soon going to be helping pharmacies store the vaccine as it starts to become more widely available.At Capitol Carbonic in southwest Baltimore, their specialty is making storage extra frosty, and that’s exactly what pharmacies need as they start to receive the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine.“The temperature for this vaccine is critical, and I’m hearing anywhere between -70 and -94, and dry ice is 109 below zero,” John Dillinger, General Manager of Capitol Carbonic, said.The company recently started getting phone calls about buying dry ice for pharmacies and health centers that will administer the vaccine since many don’t have freezers that can get ultracold.Little pellets of dry ice will be used for the Pfizer vaccine. They’ll soon go out to pharmacies all across the Baltimore-area once more doses of the vaccine are shipped in.
Carbon Health, the technology-enabled healthcare provider, announced the launch of Carbon Health Vaccinate, a platform that allows local governments to more efficiently manage vaccine operations, and for any person to easily check their eligibility for a COVID-19 vaccine and sign up for a vaccination appointment. The company also announced its first partnership with the City of Los Angeles and CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) to support the city’s COVID-19 vaccination program, providing management technology, and administrative oversight to help stem the pandemic and increase vaccination capacity in Los Angeles to an additional 20,000 people a day.
AmerisourceBergen is working with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to serve as a network administrator which allows the company to place COVID-19 vaccine orders with the CDC on behalf of an initial set of eligible and qualified Good Neighbor Pharmacy and Elevate Provider Network members across select states and jurisdictions as part of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Because AmerisourceBergen has a seat at the table, the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Network was selected to provide support in select jurisdictions early because of our pharmacies’ ability to equitably serve local, hard-to-reach priority populations that are at risk for severe illness quickly and efficiently. With more than 90 percent of people living within 5 miles of a community pharmacy, pharmacists have unique reach and ability to provide access to COVID-19 vaccines and support broad vaccination efforts. Good Neighbor Pharmacy has been matched with Texas, Nebraska, Kentucky, Kansas and Guam and select stores across these states will receive vaccine allocation through AmerisourceBergen’s program beginning the week of Feburary 8.
Chobani is making it easier for workers to get vaccinated. The dairy company announced that employees would be compensated for up to six hours to receive vaccine doses."Some people view this as an expense. We look at it as an investment," Chobani's President and COO Peter McGuinness told Cheddar. "We're making food to put on American tables, and I think the least we can do is make it very easy for them to get vaccinated."McGuinness said the company especially wants to make sure it's more than 2,000 hourly workers can receive the vaccines.
Microsoft Corp, health insurer Cigna Corp, and Mayo Clinic are part of a coalition pushing for digital records of people who get vaccinated against COVID-19. A key aim of the project, called Vaccination Credential Initiative, is to help people store encrypted digital copies of their immunization records in a digital wallet of their choice. These records could eventually be used, with an individual’s consent, by colleges that are trying to re-open or even for entry into concerts in the future.

Citi announced the firm has been selected by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to be the financial advisor for the COVAX Facility, its global procurement mechanism for COVID-19 vaccines.The COVAX Facility is part of COVAX, a global, multilateral initiative aimed at developing, manufacturing and deploying COVID-19 vaccines on a fair and equitable basis. It is co-led by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), and the World Health Organization (WHO) —working in partnership with developed and developing country vaccine manufacturers, UNICEF, the World Bank, Civil Society Organizations and others.Citi will provide Gavi with expert advice on structures to mitigate sovereign, credit and operational risk as the COVAX Facility seeks to facilitate pooled procurement and equitable distribution of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines from multiple pharmaceutical manufacturers to all COVAX participating economies once they reach licensure.In its first phase, and up until the end of 2021, the COVAX Facility aims to secure and deliver 2 billion doses of vaccines to be distributed to member countries’ populations. The facility currently counts more than 180 sovereign government entities as participants.In its role as advisor, Citi will advise and assist in finding risk mitigation and execution strategies in connection with the facility, including supporting the building of strategies to operationalize and maintain the COVAX Facility.

Comcast NBCUniversal announced the launch of Plan Your Vaccine, a nationwide awareness campaign, website, and interactive tool that will provide the latest news and information about when and where people can receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The resource will help users navigate the vaccine rollout process by state, letting them know if they are currently eligible to receive the vaccine, track distribution timelines, and find the closest vaccination location.
St. Luke's Health System has joined forces with a local outdoors company that is offering its coolers to store the hospital's doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Once stored, the doses are sent to rural communities, where many Idahoans are waiting for their shot.Cordova Outdoors in Nampa and the Idaho company PharmaWatch are teaming up with St. Luke's to ensure Idaho's vaccine rollout remains on schedule.St. Luke's uses seven of these coolers for daily transportation since they are able to keep vaccine doses at the appropriate temperature for up to eight hours. The vaccine storage coolers keep the doses anywhere between 36-46 degrees Fahrenheit. This not only keeps vaccine doses from being wasted but also ensures Idaho's vaccine rollout moves along as efficiently as possible.
Part of a "public-private partnership" between the health department and other business, health care and labor leaders, dubbed the "Washington State Vaccine Command and Coordination Center."Costco will help with vaccine delivery by pharmacies, as well as employee unions to help coordinate volunteer vaccinators.
CSC ServiceWorks is helping its employees to make informed decisions by providing them COVID-19 Vaccine Resources. These resources laid out the basics of vaccination, hoping to assist employees in making educated choices while advocating that everyone should receive the vaccine. The resources also supplied a state matrix of sites that employees can access. Also supplied was a link to Department of Homeland Security (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) documentation and a company letter to support.Pharmacy Vaccine Resources were also shared with the companies employees. These resouces laid out the basics of the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, as well as linked to pharmacy networks in their home states.CSC is also registering its entire company at sites that allow employers to register essential workers.
CVS and Walgreens began inoculations at long-term care facilities in a few states on Dec. 18. They’ve since expanded to thousands of facilities across 49 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. West Virginia has not opted into the federal program for Covid vaccinations at long-term care facilities.CVS Health and Walgreens said they are on track to complete the first round of Covid vaccine shots at nursing homes across the country by Jan. 25.
Darden Restaurants, the parent company of brands including Olive Garden, announced that it will incentivize employees to get their COVID-19 vaccines by offering paid time off — up to four hours — so workers "do not have to choose between earning income and getting vaccinated," Darden CEO Gene Lee said in a letter shared with Fox News."While we will not require hourly team members to be vaccinated as a condition of employment, we strongly encourage you consider getting vaccinated," the letter adds.
DHL has joined the international COVID-19 vaccine distribution. Flights operated by DHL Express and DHL Global Forwarding touched down in Tel Aviv with the first batch of vaccines for Israeli citizens on board. Since then, the rollout has expanded quickly. With its hub and gateway network across the globe, DHL was able to quickly pivot to help the vaccine distribution, delivering first batches for citizens in countries including Mexico, Italy, Greece, Oman, Austria, Chile, Sweden. Bahrain, Costa Rica, and Singapore.

Dollar General is offering to help frontline employees of their stores become vaccinated.In a statement from the company, Dollar General is offering a one-time payment of 4 hours of regular pay after receiving a completed COVID vaccination.This, according to the company, is to compensate employees to allow for travel time, child care or other compensation needed to receive the vaccine.
Duke Energy is partnering with local healthcare systems to help support vaccination events to reach underrepresented and vulnerable customers. The company is also partnering with key stakeholders to assist with identified needs for vaccine outreach.Duke Energy will be partnering with a national nonprofit partner to identify ways to increase vaccine information and outreach to underserved communities.
To help public health agencies and other organizations jump-start their response to coronavirus, Esri is offering its location intelligence, geographic information system (GIS) and mapping software, services, and materials as a way to keep communities aware of the impact of the outbreak. The company is giving access to these resources at no cost with a complimentary software subscription.These datasets are useful for governments, school officials, and businesses providing leadership, resources, and programs during the COVID-19 response. But of utmost importance, this is critical information for communities.The Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Centers for Disease Control, and numerous state and local emergency response agencies are collaborating with Esri in the fight against COVID-19. Additionally, institutions like Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering have built their own maps using Esri’s ArcGIS Dashboards.

Towne Park has pivoted their business to support non-clinical services at vaccine centers across the country. The company is overseeing registration, pre-screening, way finding, intake, and more to service health officials at vaccine centers with major sites in Seattle, Portland, Oklahoma City, Boston and more. In Portland, OR, Towne Park is working with a conglomerate of 10 health care providers as well as the National Guard to vaccinate 5,000 people a day. Due to the demand, the company has significantly increased their hiring to employee and train staff ready to support the vaccination centers.
Tractor Supply Co. will offer workers a one-time $50 payment and as much time as needed to get the COVID vaccine. The company has also partnered with a third-party to provide access at its eight distribution centers and store support centers when that option is available.
The popular grocery store chain Trader Joe’s will reimburse employees with two hours of pay per dose of the vaccine received, and will take steps to make sure that “Crew Members” (employees responsible for jobs like working cash registers, receiving and unloading deliveries, stocking shelves, building displays, cleaning the floor, etc.) have time to schedule an appointment.
Trinity Health hosted a series of town halls on the vaccines' safety and efficacy, which have been well attended. Since the vaccine became available, 40% of the system's employees have received the vaccine, and recent polling suggests 70% are willing to do so.Trinity's C-suite leaders also publicized their plans to get the vaccine as early as this week, when they will be eligible, according to Modern Healthcare. Moderna is working with ridesharing giant Uber to raise awareness and increase access to COVID-19 vaccines. The two companies will work together initially to provide accessible, credible information on vaccine safety through Uber’s in-app messaging.The two companies will also work with public health and other organizations to identify additional opportunities to support ongoing efforts to broaden access to COVID-19 vaccines.Uber and Moderna said they are evaluating other options, including incorporating ride scheduling directly into the immunization appointment process, and possibly integrating with vaccine providers’ systems to text reminders and enable patients to book rides in advance of their first or second immunization appointments.Uber also said it has partnered with retail pharmacy chain Walgreens to offer free transportation to its locations and offsite vaccination clinics in cities such as Houston, Chicago and Atlanta.

CVS and Walgreens began inoculations at long-term care facilities in a few states on Dec. 18. They’ve since expanded to thousands of facilities across 49 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. West Virginia has not opted in to the federal program for Covid vaccinations at long-term care facilities.CVS Health and Walgreens said they are on track to complete the first round of Covid vaccine shots at nursing homes across the country by Jan. 25.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shared information on the U.S. Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Through this partnership, Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacies can now accept and administer federal allocations of the COVID-19 vaccine. Walmart and Sam’s Club are working with the federal government to help increase access to COVID-19 vaccines at select pharmacies in 22 states once vaccine doses are available.Once the locations have received the vaccines, eligible customers and members can reserve a convenient vaccine appointment directly via a scheduling tool on the Walmart and Sam’s Club websites, while allocation lasts. In addition to appointments, the scheduler will provide a digital reminder when it’s time to return for the second dose of the vaccine in order for the vaccine to be fully effective.

Wex and other large businesses are providing volunteer staff to help run a vaccination center, leaving MaineHealth to focus on having doctors, nurses and others qualified to administer the vaccine do their job.Since businesses issued the call, hundreds have signed up to become volunteers. The volunteers help those who are getting vaccinations check-in and have their appointments verified, fill out some paperwork, go to a waiting area, get vaccinated and then spend 15 to 30 minutes in an observation area to make sure they don’t have an immediate adverse reaction to the shot.Wex, Unum and L.L.
