First and Last
Please use your Berkeley email
If you do not have a US phone number, please put (111)-111-1111 and we'll note it!
What year in school are you?
If undeclared, please indicate what major(s)/minor(s) you are interested in
Have you applied to Blueprint before?
What position(s) are you applying to this semester?
Select as many as you would like. You only need to fill out one application regardless of how many positions you apply for.
  • Developer
  • Designer
  • External
Which role do you prefer?
Your written application will be considered for all roles selected in the previous question, but you will be moved forward for only one role.
[Required for Developer Applicants only] I acknowledge that I have filled out the form below to indicate my availability on Sunday, September 8th for Blueprint Games.
Please fill out the form at https://go.calblueprint.org/games-availability. There is also a makeup session. Blueprint Games is an event in our developer recruitment process that you may be invited to after application decisions are released.
[Required for External Applicants only] Which position would you prefer?
You will be considered for both positions, but please choose your preferred position. We will slightly adjust the focus of your interview based on your preferred position.
[Required for External Applicants only] Please briefly describe any prior design, marketing, outreach, and/or event planning experience. (100 words max)
Such experience could include graphic design, social media marketing, journalism, outreach, and more. Experience is not required, but we would like to know if you have any.

[Required for Designer Applicants Only] Please briefly describe any prior relevant experience in UI/UX, visual, or other design disciplines that might prepare you for this role. (100 words max)
Feel free to use bullet points, but do not include links or a portfolio in this question.
  • {name}
Discuss a social cause or problem — why it is meaningful to you? Why do you believe it is challenging to address? (200 words max)
This does NOT need to relate to one of Blueprint’s current of past projects, or to a cause that is directly tech-aligned. For essays on more sensitive topics, please include a trigger warning for our application readers.

In what specific ways do you want to grow as a person right now and what do you hope to gain? Have there been pivotal moments that have helped you grow? Feel free to talk about past growth and future aspirations. (200 words max)
We want to hear you be genuine and introspective! Please don’t feel limited to only writing about academic/career-related achievements.

Tell us about a time that you overcame a challenge or adapted to an unfamiliar situation. What were the difficulties and what did you learn? (200 words max)
This does not have to be technical in nature. Feel free to talk about anything! Don’t include project links in this section—there will be space for that later. Please don’t treat this prompt like a resume section!

[Optional] Is there any additional information or circumstances we should know about to understand you better?
This can be anything related to your identity, current/previous access to relevant resources, etc. In reading your application, we want to ensure that we understand and respect your background, experiences, and perspectives. (200 words max)

[Optional] Submit a link to something you've worked on.
We want to be as equitable as possible in this process, and we also want you to have an opportunity to submit an example of your favorite work. Feel free to link to one thing that showcases what you love to do — a favorite piece of art you've made, a past project, a SoundCloud track you created, or anything else! If you choose to link to a personal website that showcases your portfolio or technical projects, we will view the website itself as a project and not look into your full portfolio.

I acknowledge that I can meet the time commitment of working on a Blueprint team.
Members spend 8-12 hours per week on Blueprint, including team/club-wide meetings, time spent outside of meetings to complete work, and team/club-wide socials.
For example: social media, through a friend, heard about it through classes, flyered on Sproul or Memorial Glade, Calapalooza, etc.
After this question, there is an optional demographic survey.
Each semester, we collect this information in order to help us improve our recruitment processes and understand who our applicants are. We review this information after each recruitment cycle to identify how we can improve our outreach and recruitment events.
