Help us continue reporting on school safety changes
The Texas Tribune has been reporting on Texas lawmakers’ response to the shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde last year. During the first legislative session since the massacre, legislators passed laws which largely focus on adding officers to schools, funding campus security upgrades, requiring more mental health training to help school staff identify students who need support and bolstering cooperation and accountability among schools and other agencies. The laws went into effect in September. Although lawmakers granted schools some flexibility in adding officers and getting staff mental health training, schools are starting to implement changes. We want to hear from Texas families and school staff about these changes. Help us continue reporting on school safety by sharing in the form below what changes you’re seeing in your local schools and how they may affect you or make you feel about school safety.
