Aegilops ovata
Weedy annual that currently infests rangelands and pastures in the northern half of California. They injure grazing animals and readily cross with wheat, producing sterile seed and unmarketable wheat. In grasslands, they reduce the abundance of native perennial grasses and compete with desirable plants as well as native forbs.
