The Corrupting Sea was started by Jason T. Lamoreaux in Texas in 2008 yet no one would hear an album for some years. Between 2008 and 2016, Lamoreaux experienced mental breakdowns and various undiagnosed mental disorders. The Corrupting Sea became a channel to cope with the mental anguish present in Lamoreaux and a trilogy of albums was born. Samatta, Resist, and Symphony of a Radical were all created in the midst of personal mental issues, the ramping up of political gaslighting by the fascist

Sometime in the mid to late afternoon depending on the individual I'm working with. If it's just me, I'm very flexible. In terms of shows, I would like to perform a number of times in the evening during the month.
St. Neri is a place dear to my heart and I think is one of the most fabulous spaces to play in all of Louisville. It's incredible sonic resonance as a church creates the most incredible live sounds ever. My use of the space would be both for the preparation of a live album as well as a show to perform the album while recording it. Rather than my usual laptop/controller set up, I would like to bring analog gear into the space to exercise a larger set of sounds in my live work. Further, I would

The music of Moonwatcher is best described as psychedelic, experimental, and ambient composition and performance. The approach to music is unique and allows for big full sounds and soundscapes built on the spot without use of pre-recordings or backing tracks. Instrumentation includes mandolin (often played with a bow as well as a pick, and also used percussively), keyboard, saxophone, vocals, and various odds and ends including bells, kazoo, bird whistle, and anything else that strikes my fancy.

Time would be used to practice and record. I am about to move into a three-unit apartment building, where the desire to be a mindful neighbor renders difficult the ability to find as much time as desired to create and cultivate sound in the home space. Meanwhile, the Moonwatcher project is approaching three years old, and while there are some older recorded demo tracks in existence, a goal for 2025 is to utilize updated technology in my possession to create recordings that better reflect the cur

She was first drawn to the sounds of old time banjo and fiddle traveling through West Virginia more than a decade ago. She currently plays with John Harrod and Kentucky Wild Horse and Louisville-based old time trio Man Eater (Grace Rogers, Blakeley Burger). I'd love either the 3 or 6 month option (or somewhere in-between). Every week or every other week, on a Tuesday or Thursday, between 9am and 2pm, with a little leeway to invite sound-makers on their own schedules (with considerable advance notice!), as some live several hours away.
I want to record sounds to create a bank (publicized and made free online) to then use in compositions. Recordings would come from my instrument collection and the invitation of other sound-makers. I want to invite a few musicians I know through the Teaching Artist Directory, but also make an open call to collaborate with whomever is able! I’d then be composing music and soundscapes—both in traditional notation and digitally—to augment my visual pieces as a way to both bring the experience to th

They introduce a sort of ritualistic audience participation to their sets, one that is expanded upon with each performance. We both would be able to build our schedules around venue availability.
We would like to establish a party series, centering budding and experimental deejays and other musical/performance artists. We aim to highlight and fuel a larger cultural conversation and acknowledgement of the avant-garde and the intrinsic power of pushing creative boundaries especially in the South. Our weekly/biweekly events will call for elaborate dress codes accompanied by performances from emerging local artists. We want to ensure that there is a space for our community in the growing ele

Anthony and I are local sound-integrated yoga teachers wanting to hone our sound skills, along with others, playing along or experiencing the great acoustics and feel of the chapel. Although there are many “sound healers” making promises of “X frequency heals Y” we are not of that school of thought. Unlike making a song or concert, sound healing works with the premise of creating a space and atmosphere where the unique sounds allow the participant to stay completely and intentionally in the here

I feel comfortable as a performer, but am seeking residency to learn from the Chapel and community about logistics and event planning/hosting. My name is Emma-Grace, a queer folk artist living and making music in Louisville. I’ve been writing songs since I was in high school, trying to capture life’s absurdity in words that might give it some structure or meaning. My songs trend toward scenes of young people self-destructing, contending with a world built primarily with duplicity, violence and apathy, and trying to cobble together enough threads of themselves to construct something coherent.

Daily from four pm till eight or nine.
I would like to use the facilities as a recording and practice space for the production of my debut mixtape. I may have collaborators on this project but none outside myself would be using the provided facilities regularly. I don’t have a place outside of my shared apartment to record and practice, so use of the space would be invaluable to me.

We are working to get a movie score done before May 2025. Any time after that would be spent working hard towards expanding our discography of electronic music in order to put on a show and release more music.
I will be working mornings/ afternoons landscaping so the evening or late into the night would be best for us. Weekend mornings would work for us too.
Me and 1 collaborator would be using the space to work on the score for upcoming student film Heart of the City 2, a coming of age movie based in Winston-Salem directed by our best friend. We have been searching for a long time for an environment to get lost in, in order to create with no opposing force acting on us.

I have a gap in my touring schedule during the months of March-early June and would love to use the space to rehearse with bandmates, record rough demos and practice independently, and host private/small group music lessons and community jam sessions.
Potential practice times would tentatively include mornings/early afternoons on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and Thursday or Sunday evenings depending on concert and event plans which arise at the chapel.

I would like to practice once or twice a week mainly on Saturdays and/or Sundays, and generally focusing on daytimes. I know the Chapel is used for other events and so I would aim to be flexible on when I use the space. It is possible that I would want to make use of the space on other days depending on my work schedule and general Chapel availability, but most concretely I would prefer to focus on weekend daytimes. This can be flexible, though, depending on everyone's needs.
Time would primarily used for creation and rehearsal purposes. Since my first-round application, I have worked out the possibilities within my new apartment home space for basic practice. By the time Chapel residencies are implemented, I will have achieved my start-of-year recording goals, followed by embarking on a new chapter of the Moonwatcher journey. I intend to take what I have learned and the ways I have grown in both sound and capacity over the last three years and continue to expand my

Having honed my sound over 2024 and looking forward to the next stages of Moonwatcher, I would use the residency as a key resource in developing the Obscure Sorrows Project. This is inspired by "The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows" by John Koenig, a remarkable little book which describes words formulated to describe emotions which are common but heretofore too complex to be defined by a single term. Much of the Moonwatcher approach and aesthetic has come from sonically rendering ideas, concepts, e
