Makers in Ed: Teacher PD Application
The UC Ground Floor Makerspace, in collaboration with the Greater Cincinnati STEM Collaborative will be running the third offering of a Maker-Educator intensive as Professional Development for K-12 STEAM educators. This will be hosted at the Makerspace, located within the 1819 Innovation Hub. This opportunity will be offered to up to 24 participants, Monday through Friday from June 2nd to 13th. Following these two weeks of flexible trainings, work sessions, discussions, and reviews there will be an optional 6 weeks of open Makerspace access. A small stipend will be provided. All completed applications must be received by 3/21/25. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and final notification of acceptance will occur by 4/11/25. Invited participants will immerse themselves in a two-week makerspace intensive providing hands-on instruction in digital design and a range of makerspace equipment while creating a project of personal significance. Personal, entrepreneurial, academic, and creative projects are all welcome. These experiences should help residents learn new skills that apply not only to their classrooms, but also to their personal areas of interest. By combining the skills and technologies available at the makerspace with the participants’ personal interests and expertise, they will engage with an authentic maker methodology, increasing both their skills and confidence in instructing others. Participants that choose to stay on for the full balance of the 6-week residency will have access to the full menu of programs available at the UC Ground Floor Makerspace and access to equipment matching their certifications during open hours. We look forward to your application!
