MSM Student Group Organization Request Form

Please let us know if you are interested in creating a new organization at Manhattan School of Music by filling out this form. Important information: A student must have completed one full semester at MSM before initiating the creation of a new student organization. New student organizations are approved and funded on an annual basis. Please email Student Engagement (studentengagement@msmnyc.edu) if you have any questions.

Each active student group must have an MSM staff or faculty advisor. This person will serve as a guide and mentor to the student leaders. Prior to filling out this form you should identify a potential advisor and have a conversation with them sharing why you are starting the group and why you think they would be a good fit as an advisor. A group advisor agrees to: support and challenge the group as it works to build community, encourage members to work together effectively, and aids the group in accomplishing the goals described in this form.
Student Engagement will be contacting your potential advisor to ensure they agree to fulfill this role.

Do you acknowledge that you have found two students interested in actively leading this group. They will assist in organizing meetings, events, advertising, and recruiting members, and actively participate in the group throughout the academic year.
